In 2015, in an effort to support families caught in the cycle of generational poverty, The Family Garden Initiative partnered to begin Esperanza in La Libertad, El Salvador.  The goal of the project is to provide Post-Secondary and Trade Scholarships to youth in impoverished and at-risk communities while teaching valuable skills such as agriculture, sewing, and carpentry.

In this way, children involved in Esperanza produce items that churches and individuals in the US can use to promote the program and to raise donations.  These donations are deposited directly into a college fund in the name of the child, which is awarded via scholarship to the child as needed throughout their continuing education.  We are seeing children learn the value of self-motivation, while seeing the real opportunity and HOPE for their futures.
